Home Sweet Home
"Feelings of worth can flourish only in an atmosphere where individual differences are appreciated, mistakes are tolerated, communication is open, and rules are flexible -- the kind of atmosphere that is found in a nurturing family."

Introducing Anna Rae Kemp
If you haven't already heard, Anna Rae was born right on time! She was born on her due date, July 4th, at 6:14pm. She weighed 7lbs. 15oz., and was 20 1/4 inches long.
We are loving every minute of her, learning tons, and resting well. Since she's been born (she's a week old today), I've decided I'll probably stop blogging. Some things that seemed important to me before she arrived just seems so insignificant now. Plus, the main purpose of this blog for the last 9 months have been for me to remember. I'm putting all these posts in her baby book, and I think she will really appreciate having my thoughts.

Quick Picture Update
Here are some new pictures of Anna Rae's nursery:

And finally... the 39 week belly:
Ready or Not...
Well, Johnathan and I are ready, if that's what you are wondering. As for Anna Rae, I think she's starting to get very uncomfortable. We went to the doctor yesterday for the 39 week update, and guess what!?!... progress! I'm 3 cm dilated! Whoo hoo! Her heartbeat was a strong 160, which the doctor said was a little high due to the Fruit Loops I had that morning. Contractions are still pretty inconsistent, ranging from 20 minutes apart to 5 minutes apart, and I could easily go an hour without having any. The doctor said based on how much I have dilated, and my contractions, that there is a good chance I could have her by the weekend, so we shall see!
The contractions last night actually started to get pretty strong, and were about 7 to 8 minutes apart, and we got really excited, but I didn't want to rush to the hospital if they didn't continue, and sure enough after I kicked Johnathan's butt at Super Mario World for about an hour and the chicken finished cooking on the grill they became less consistent and finally fizzled away.
In other news, I am still working. Seriously! But, I'm not working full days, and leave in the afternoons to relax and take naps; getting my rest in anticipation for the big day. I like working, and it makes the days go by faster than if I was just sitting at home by myself, so I don't mind. I'm also still taking the stairs; don't judge me... the elevator takes too long and I have little patience.
So, we are all just waiting on the edge of our seats for you little girl! At this point we can say with almost 100% certainty that she will be a Ruby (July) baby!

Seriously... All Bets Are On
My office thought it would be fun to start $1.00 bets on my due date. I think it is hilarious, and I can't wait to see who wins. Here is the list:

Latest Stats
This blog serves a dual purpose. One to update family and friends, and the other to remind me about the last 9 months. So today's post is merely just for reminder's sake... short post because there is a ton of work to be done... yep, still at work.
Here are the latest stats from the doctor's appointment yesterday:
38 1/2 weeks
1 cm dilated
Still 60% effaced
Baby's head is still down, thank God
Baby's estimated weight is 7 1/2 lbs.
Contractions still the same
How I'm feeling:

How I'm feeling:
Good. Some days tired, some days I have little spurts of energy. I tried deep cleaning the fridge the other night and Johnathan got on to me and made me quit half way through... I'm determined to finish it before Anna Rae gets here.
How baby is doing:
She is great... I'm sure. Her hiccups are big enough now to move my whole stomach! The doctor confirmed it is her knee that keeps poking out of my right side. I keep telling her that it would be a whole lot easier to stretch out on the outside of my body, but so far she's not listening. I think she's stubborn like her daddy.
AND, last but certainly not least... Happy 5 Year Anniversary Johnathan!!! I am so lucky to have you in my life, and thank you for being so supportive of me, especially through these last 9 months! I can't wait to meet our new addition! Love you!

All Bets Are On
So, people at work, and some family members too, have changed their comments to me from, "it won't be long," to "I bet you'll have her on __." It is so funny to hear people's predictions, and I never thought so many people made these predictions to a pregnant woman. Last week my mom told me I would be in the hospital on Saturday, and that didn't happen. Yesterday one co-worker told me I was going to have her last night, one told me I was going to have her this weekend, and my boss told me at 4:30pm not to have her before he got back from the bank. ha! (and yes, I'm STILL working... better to have something to do while I play the waiting game.) This morning one of the partner's daughter told me I was going to have her on the 25th of June (that's how she said it). So we'll see if she's a Saturday baby.
Anyone else want to place a bet? Our 5 year wedding anniversary is Friday, anyone want to take that day?
Another funny comment I've gotten lately is, "I'm going on vacation this weekend, so if you could have her before I leave or wait until I come back that would be great." And Johnathan's comment last night, "I'm going to training tomorrow and Thursday, so if you could have her tonight so that I can go tomorrow, or wait until after Thursday that would be great." (Don't worry, if I go into labor he's only at Fort Bragg so he'll be here in plently of time.) But seriously, no one in my immediate family is in town today, so Anna Rae, if you could wait until at least tomorrow that would be awesome!
I'm even more anxious than last week to go to the doctor tomorrow. Hopefully progress has been made. I love being pregnant, but now I just want to meet my little girl!
