Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!

Ten days of vacation plus two fun holidays packed with good food, friends, and family equals sleeping late and tons of football watching couch time.  And by the way... Go Heels!!!  We watched the UNC Bowl game at Hickory Tavern with friends who were Tennessee fans, and had a nice, friendly rivalry.  The best part was that the entire restaurant was also split pretty evenly.  The Vols would score and about half the restaurant would cheer; then UNC would score and the other half would cheer.  It was a fun atmosphere to say the least.

Back to the holidays...

Christmas started with breakfast at my mom's house and opening presents there.  We also went to my sister's house and saw all that Santa brought to my nephews.  Next, we had lunch at my uncle's house, which consisted of the usual turkey, ham, stuffing, potatoes, cranberry sauce, etc. etc.  After we stuffed ourselves silly and opened presents there, Johnathan and I headed to his grandparents house for Christmas dinner.  His mom and step-dad came down from Winston-Salem (where, by the way, it had already started snowing), and we enjoyed yet another great meal and good conversation.  Since everyone knew it was going to snow, but no one knew when it was going to start, we left his grandparents and headed back to our house to buckle down for the big snow storm.

We never saw the snow start, but we woke up to a beautiful thick coat of snow, and it was still coming down.  By about noon we probably had close to 6 inches.  We played in the back yard with Levi, alternating throwing his tennis ball and snow balls, and taking pictures of the snowy yard.  We had lunch at Mac's, and I think it must have been the only restaurant open in town because it was packed!  It was neat to see the town covered in snow... it is hard to explain, but it looked like we weren't in our town, like maybe we were in the mountains somewhere.  Sunday was also my cousin's birthday, so later that evening we were off to my uncle's house for yet another fabulous dinner.  

I went to work on Monday, blah blah blah, but had the rest of the week off! yay!

We decided to stay close to home for the New Year's celebration, and had two fun parties to attend.  First, a few of the guys Johnathan works with had a get together, which included cover dish dinner and karaoke.  I did not sing, but had fun laughing and listening to some others do their best.  We ended the night at Carrie and Jacob's, ringing in the new year with a few great friends and more good food.
